This report details progress under Canada's federal Pay Equity Act as the focus shifts toward evidence-based compliance and long-term plan maintenance. Of the 643 employers who submitted their first annual statements, approximately 20% reported owing wage adjustments to female-predominant job classes, averaging an hourly increase of $2.37. While Statistics Canada data reflects a long-term narrowing of the gender wage gap, significant disparities persist, particularly for older and intersectional groups. Following a drop in formal disputes and administrative requests after past legislative deadlines, the Commission spent the year optimizing internal dispute resolution, expanding online educational tools, and utilizing portal data to streamline future enforcement.
