CCWESTT in 2025: Year in Review

CCWESTT had a banner year in 2025! We’re taking some time to rest before 2026, but thought you might like to read some of our highlights from the year that was.

We hosted two successful hybrid The Power of Systems Change forums in Calgary in February and Montreal in October. These forums started conversations on leadership and action in systemic change. You can view recordings of panel conversations that took place in Calgary and Montreal.

Have you visited wearetrades.ca lately? We refreshed We Are Trades in April to match the CCWESTT brand. You can sign up for the We Are Trades mailing list to be the first to hear about workshop dates.

CCWESTT joined the official Canadian Delegation for the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW) for the second time in the last three years when our Executive Director Bonnie Douglas attended in March. Bonnie shared reflections on her time there on our blog.

As part our of Skilled Trades Workplaces: engaging and mobilizing men as allies to prevent and end Gender-Based Violence (GBV) project we hosted four sessions of We Are Trades workshops, three co-action conversations in Halifax, Vancouver and Hamilton, a Be More Than A Bystander training in Moncton and a panel conversation on engaging male allies with some of our program facilitators. All of these sessions are valuable connections with potential male allies to work towards ending GBV.

We launched our Gender Equality Report Card in Montreal on October 29 as part of the second part of The Power of Systems Change forum series: Learning to Act. The report card contains a wealth of data and scores for each jurisdiction in Canada on their journey to gender equity in SETT.

Here’s how we’re spreading the word:

CAMPAIGN VIDEO: Honestly, We Need This to Work

Women and gender-diverse people work in SETT—the system doesn’t. Get a glimpse into the kinds of unfair and unsafe workplace standards we see throughout our industries.

CCWESTT’s Shadow Work video, showcasing the voices of SETT and not-for-profit workers and their experiences with unpaid labour was officially selected for the Canadian Labour International Film Festival (CLiFF) and was screened across the country and virtually in November.

There is much more to come from CCWESTT in 2026. We hope to see you at CCWESTT 2026 in Calgary!
