This legislation provides for equality at work by prohibiting discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace, and protection against unjust dismissal. The law gives employees the right to apply to the court or administrative authority for an order that requires the existing discrimination to cease and also for the payment of any wages owing. Employers with 100 or more employees have a legal obligation to carry out an equal pay analysis every four years. This Act establishes the Federal Office for Gender Equality and allows for the federal government to conduct its own programs or to provide financial aid to public or private institutions that conduct programmes for the promotion of gender equality in the workplace.
